This story sounds a bit difficult to believe after the kind of association Deepika Padukone has had with Rohit Shetty in the film ‘Chennai Express’, but then if wags are to be believed the actress demanded a whopping  Rs18 crore [Dh10.8million] to work in Rohit Shetty’s next film with Ajay Devgn called ‘Singham 2’.

The role is that of a Maharashtrian girl and Rohit Shetty too has gone on record to say that the role was written keeping his Golmaal 3 girl Kareena Kapoor in mind.

But the truth also is that Kareena did ask Rohit if he had a role in any of his film and he had offered her ‘Singham 2’.

So did Kareena’s question to Rohit come after she realised that Deepika Padukone had pitched her budget much higher, in fact she had demanded twice the money she was drawing for her films earlier.

Rohit’s pitch for the film to Deepika was more because he wanted to see her paired opposite Ajay Devgn, but then Deepika is said to have quoted the said price because she was not too keen to work with Devgn because most of the actor’s film end up being a male oriented film and she was not too happy being part of the upholstery. One can recall that Deepika had a better role than Shah Rukh Khan in the film ‘Chennai Express’ and even got a higher billing than him in the movie.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani and Prabhu Dheva’s new action comedy are also films where one has considered pairing the two together. The others may just happen, but then this Rohit Shetty film seems to have ‘Kareena’ get what she wanted.
