Amitabh Bachchan shared his grief over micro blogging site Twitter late night as he learned that child artiste and his “Paa” co-star Taruni Sachdev was one of the few who perished in the Nepal air crash earlier this week.

A Bachchan follower broke the news to the veteran Bollywood actor over Twitter, which prompted the actor to reply: “Please do not say that this is true. I am so shaken. She was the most bright and beautiful little girl [sic].”

He later tweeted: “Just reading that Taruni Sachdev, the girl child artist in ‘Paa’, has perished in Nepal plane crash. Please God may this not be true.

“Jomsom where the plane crash in Nepal took place is where we shot ‘Khuda Gawah’, a raw airfield and most difficult to land on.”

Taruni has featured in at least 50 ads in India including the popular Rasna ad. Also perishing in the crash alongside her was Taruni’s mother, Geeta. The 14-year-old Taruni is survived by her father, Harish Sachdev.

Of the 13 Indians, who died in Monday’s crash, seven were from Mumbai.

The small plane crashed, killing 15 people while six others miraculously survived, officials said.

The aircraft belonging to local carrier Agni Air crashed near Jomsom airport, a gateway to the nearby Annapurna mountain range, shortly after the pilot reported a fault.
