Bollywood dynasties: Star kids born with silver spoons

Ranbir Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor and many others have shot to fame in no time. Although coming from different families, theses stars have one thing in common.

Each of them were born with a silver spoon as they are the star kids of Bollywood. The career graph of these celeb kids moved relatively faster than those who do not come from film background and neither had a godfather or godmother.

Emirates 24|7 gives you a bird’s eyeview into the dynasties that are reining in Bollywood.

Kapoor:  Ranbir, Karisma and Kareena’s family have been in the industry for three generations. From great grandfather Prithvi Raj Kapoor to grand pa Raj Kapoor, most of the Kapoor members who have stepped into the industry have done exceptionally well. Ranbir’s father Rishi was a heartthrob of his generation and now he has taken up the mantle.

Another dynasty of Kapoors are Sonam and Arjun Kapoor. Although actor Anil Kapoor’s daughter is still waiting for a big hit, cousin Arjun who is director Boney Kapoor’s son rocked Bollywood with his first film ‘Ishaqzaade’.

Khan: As children of National film Award winner Sharmila Tagore, son Saif Ali Khan and daughter Soha Ali Khan had to carry the torch forward. Saif Ali Khan made it only in his second innings with the National Award for Best Actor for 'Hum Tum'. His sister Soha although stepped in to the industry much later has been a part of critically acclaimed 'Rang de Basanti'.

With the strong backing of his uncle Aamir Khan, Imran Khan made a grand entry into Bollywood with his debut film ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’.  Imran's next big hit, 'Delhi Belly' too had Aamir's stamp on the film. Had it not been for Mr Perfectionist's watchful eye on his nephew, Imran would have had to struggle like so many others to gain a foothold in the industry.

Mukherjee: Bubbly Kajol had already won the hearts of Hindi filmgoers by the time the light eyed Rani Mukerji entered the industry. Their  fathers were siblings who were directors.  The two cousins soon became rivals and refused to acknowledge each other. Kajol then supported her sibling Tanisha who did not last long in Bollywood, despite the lineage.

Akhtar: Farhan Akhtar known for his directorial, acting and singing skills made a place in the industry relatively fast. But this multi-faceted star also had the backing from his father Javed Akhtar and stepmom Shabana Azmi.  Farhan’s sibling Zoya Akhtar is also a film director with hits like 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'.
