Salman Khan is no villain

With Salman Khan completely out of the reckoning with a super busy schedule, Boney Kapoor is panicking. The filmmaker, who is very close to Salman Khan, and who had cast him in films such as ‘No Entry’ and ‘Wanted’ wanted him in the remake of ‘Mr India’. But Salman doesn’t have the dates that Kapoor wants.

After working on ‘Dabangg 2’ — directed by his brother Arbaaz and produced by sister-in-law Malaika — Salman is now slated to work with Sooraj Barjatya who launched him in ‘Biwi Ho To Aisi’ and later ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ by working in ‘Bade Bhaiyya’.

That, of course, after helping his old friend and producer Sajid Nadiadwala who debuts as a director with ‘Kick’. But then Sajid also will get his due after Salman helps his other brother Sohail Khan establish himself as a director with the remake of the Telugu superhit ‘Stalin’.

This means that Boney Kapoor who will get son Arjun to reprise the role initially played by Anil Kapoor, will now need to search for a new villain, a new Mogambo to play the role in his film.

Not many are aware that the character of Mogambo was added to ‘Mr India’ as an afterthought and what an afterthought it turned out to be. Amrish Puri’s performance stood out, making him the villain of the 80s and 90s.

Many stars are now angling for the said role and we are told that Anil Kapoor himself had expressed his keenness to do the said role, because Shekhar Kapur will be directing the remake now.
