Vidya Balan turned 36 a few days ago. The actress who is now working on a film playing Mahesh Bhatt’s mother in the forthcoming film 'Hamaari Adhuri Kahaani', is playing a character Pooja Bhatt played years ago in 'Zakhm'. Vidya plays the role opposite Emraan Hashmi who is also playing his great grandfather Nanabhai Bhatt’s role.

"It is a very difficult role to do, because Bhattsaab is there watching me. He is the writer of the film and not the director, but I know that he knew his mother really well and had to see me in her when I was acting. I am happy that he is happy. He speaks so well, and I can spend hours just listening to him," she says.

Vidya also reminisces that moment when she was celebrating her eighteenth birthday. "It was actually 18 years ago when I had turned eighteen. I was out with my friends and came back home only to find that my sister had actually arranged for a great surprise party at home. It was wonderful. And now, two years ago, I had a wonderful birthday gift when my sister delivered twins on my birthday," says the actress.

Vidya does mention that working in HAK has made her closer to Emraan Hashmi. "We did not move beyond the customary "Hi, hello" when we were working in 'The Dirty Picture'. During 'Ghanchakkar' we spoke a bit, but then we really became friends only when we started working in 'Hamaari Adhuri Kahaani'," she adds.

She may have got the Padmashri – an honour from the Indian government recently, but then she knows very well that had director Pradeep Sarkar not insisted on her, producer Vinod Chopra would have opted for Aishwarya Rai for the role. (Chopra told us this a while ago).

"I am happy that Dada (Sarkar) with whom I had worked in a couple of videos did what he had promised me – work with me in a movie. I used to love his music videos and was stunned and happy when he got me the film. Even Vinod Chopraji told me later, that it was Pradeep Sarkar who had insisted on me," she adds, gratefulness welling in her eyes.
