Lara Dutta engaged to Mahesh Bhupathi

Mahesh Bhupathi has made the universe his. The hunky tennis star is now officially engaged to former Miss Universe Lara Dutta, he told fans on his Twitter home page on Sunday.

“So Lara and me got engaged in NY last week,” he Tweeted.

Bhupati’s confirmation followed word from Dutta to a publication last week, when she said he proposed to her during the recent US open, taking her completely by surprise.

The relationship has reportedly witnessed many ups and downs. Mahesh Bhupathi's ex-wife Shwetha Jaishankar had blamed Dutta for their divorce, but the Bollywood actress has vehemently denied a real-life role as the other woman.

There is no indication the pair will marry soon. Dutta simply said that since both of them are busy, it's not on cards any time this year.
