The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly always packs boat shoes when she travels.

The 37-year-old royal is often seen in high heels or wedges at formal events with her husband Prince William, but according to Express.co.uk, she always takes the more practical option with her as well, even though they're not dictated by royal protocol.

The publication claimed that Catherine can't live without her trusted boat shoes, which she's worn on several trips, such as her tours of New Zealand, India and Canada, and favours a taupe and cream style by Sebago.

The brand's website claims the shoes are "welcome footwear for lunch, errands, and just dashing around.

"A traction-ready outsole keeps things steady on- and offshore."

The Duchess - who has Prince George, five, Princess Charlotte, three, and eight-month-old Prince Louis with The Duke of Cambridge - isn't the only royal who occasionally turns a blind eye to royal protocol, as it was recently reported that Duchess Meghan had started wearing shorter skirts due to her pregnancy.

Kensington Palace announced The Duchess of Sussex, 37, and husband Prince Harry - William's younger brother - are expecting their first child at the start of their royal tour of Oceania in October, and she has been changing her fashion choices in order to accentuate "the assets that don't change as much in pregnancy".

Personal stylist Keren Beaumont previously stated: "When a woman becomes pregnant and sees her body shape evolving, this can often call for a change in her usual formula for dressing.

"Being in the public eye, these women will be very conscious of wanting to look great, so they will offset these larger silhouettes by making the most of the assets that don't change as much in pregnancy, especially their legs in the case of the two ladies in question."

"Both are blessed with long slim legs which are showcased beautifully in higher hemlines."
