Concerts, cash to mark Eid Al Adha

Music concerts and cash giveaways are a highlight of this year’s Eid Al Adha celebrations in Dubai.

Organisers of the government’s Eid in Dubai retail initiative said activities, being organised for the third consecutive year, would cater to the emirate’s diverse mix of cultures across all age groups.

Ibrahim Saleh, Festivals Coordinator General and Deputy CEO of Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, said, “Into its third year, ‘Eid in Dubai’ has succeeded in making Eid Al Adha a unique celebration for residents and visitors in Dubai. This city proudly boasts of over 200 nationalities and ‘Eid in Dubai’ is a platform for diverse cultures to interact and celebrate Eid.”  

“Through this celebration, we would like to highlight values of sharing and generosity that are integral to Eid Al Adha as well as highlight the Emarati tradition of celebrating this occasion,” he added. 

Concerts 

IRANIAN: On November 18, renowned Iranian singer Ebrahim Hamedi, popularly known as Ebi, will take the stage at the Aviation Club Tennis Stadium. On November 19,  popular singers Shadmehr Aghili and Siavash Ghomeshi will entertain audiences with concerts at the same venue. Tickets are priced from Dh600 per show.

INDIAN: On November 19, popular Indian singers Pritam, Neeraj Shridhar and Mohit Chauhan perform at Madinat Jumeirah Arena as part of Dhoom Dubai. Tickets are priced from Dh175.

Retail

Shopping centres around the city will host Arabic performances and roaming musical shows. In particular, Mall of the Emirates will present a show by The Emirates Youth Symphony Orchestra, with 20 young musicians performing a 40-minute act over the four days of Eid.

At Deira City Centre, it’s acrobatic and comic shows, while culture and heritage will be the focus of Eid celebrations at Mirdif City Centre with a traditional Eid celebration through exhibits, cuisine, and music.
Dubai Festival City will host the customary Eid fireworks that will light up the Dubai sky during Eid Al Adha.

Meanwhile, in an initiative to encourage women entrepreneurs, the Ekhtyar Souq runs until November 15. Featuring star-shaped kiosks along the length of Al Mamzar Beach Road, the souq is open from 4pm till midnight and sells a variety of goods.    

Raffle

With prizes totalling Dh1.4 million to be won, the ‘Eidyat Dubai’ promotion is being organized as part of the Eid Al Adha celebrations. As part of the promotion, twenty-eight winners will each take home a cash prize of Dh50,000 over a period of four days. Deira City Centre will host the first raffle on November 16, while Mirdif City Centre will host the second on November 17, followed by Dubai Festival City on November 18, and Mall of the Emirates on November 19.
