Jazz lovers are living it up at The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence with the Jazz World, an associated event of Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival. Running until Jan 28, Jazz World is being held in partnership with Dubai Shopping Festival and is witnessing packed crowds wanting to see international artists perform.

Two bands are performing every night at Dubai’s most frequented location. With the Jazz World ‘Blues Edition’ warming up the ambience at The Walk at JBR, jazz lovers seem to be enjoying it to the fullest.

Tamer Giruis, an Egyptian jazz lover who attended the jazz festival, said: “The music was one of the finest. And most importantly, it is the open-air location by the beachside which is adding to the whole mood. The weather has also been very good making the whole experience unforgettable. The DSF organizers have done a great job of offering us such a wonderful experience – something we can share and enjoy with friends.”

Yet another jazz lover from Lebanon, Noura Amin, said: “It was an exhilarating experience, and the crowd was very enthusiastic making the whole ambience lively. The stage was quite colourful and attractive, too. What made a huge difference was that the Jazz performers were friendly and indulged the audience to a great extent. Happily dancing to the beats were people of all age groups – 20- to 50-year-olds. Restaurants around the venue were fully packed as people gathered at The Walk at JBR to be a part of a colourful and vibrant jazz festival.”

Artists performing the coming week include Flip Side and Marc Tee & Band on Jan 24, Dwight Dickeson Quartet and Larry Garner & Band on Jan 25, Fatiniza, Sax Gordon & Raphael and Wressing & Band on Jan 26, Serge Bikhazi Blues Band and Sharrie Williams & Band on Jan 27, and Kaleidoskope and American All Star Jam on Jan 28.

This free outdoor event at The Walk-JBR will be followed by the 3rd edition of the du Jazz Garden with one week of pure music and entertainment at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre – the home of the Dubai Jazz Festival, from February 8th to 15th, featuring a mix of some of the finest British and international jazz artists and musicians.

And finally, drawing up to its musical heights, the Main Gigs – the mega concerts of the Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival 2011 will take place on three consecutive nights – February 16, 17, and 18 at Dubai Media City Outdoor Amphitheater. The main gigs feature a line-up of international pop-jazz idosl such as Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, Alison Moyet, Macy Gray, Lifehouse, Joshua Radin and Train amongst a long list of high profile performers.
