Indian blockbuster "PK" is set to get a wide release in China, following a deal between Disney India and Chinese state-owned distributors.

A contract was signed in Beijing on Jan. 27 in the presence of the Indian ambassador to China and Tong Gang, Vice Minister, at China's State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT).

The film is to be released by China Film Group and Huaxia Film Group, with a promised 3,500 screens, at an unspecified release date.

The film, which reunited key members of the "3 Idiots" team including director Rajkumar Hirani, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and star Aamir Khan, pokes fun at religions and false prophets.

It has grossed $100 million worldwide, with $89.8 million coming from international markets and $10.6 million from North America.

"The film's blend of entertainment, emotion and underlying social message will resonate with audiences in China and elsewhere in the world. I am also pleased that 'PK' will build on the success of '3 Idiots' and expand the China market for Indian films in the future," said Vinod Chopra.

China and India last year signed an historic agreement that may allow more Indian films to enter China, where the vast majority of the revenue-sharing import quota is allocated to mainstream Hollywood titles.
