Wedding fever certainly has England in its grips. After Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement earlier, the other famous Kate is now all set to walk down the aisle later this year.
If you haven’t guessed it yet, the namesake in question is supermodel Kate Moss, who looks set to marry rock star boyfriend, Jamie Hince on July 2.
The UK daily, The Sun, reports the duo will tie the knot with Moss’ eight-year-old daughter, Lila, featuring as chief bridesmaid.
The newspaper further reports that the catwalk queen was in bed on Tuesday night when Hince, lead guitarist with the hit band, The Kills, popped the question.
He surprised her with a vintage 1920s engagement ring after switching the lights back on and going down on one knee.
Apparently Hince has followed tradition to the nines by asking Moss’ parents for permission.
A source close to the couple was quoted as saying: “He has been badgering her to get married but she wanted to take her time.
“Over the last year they have grown so close, they are like man and wife.
“They’re going to have the mother of all weddings. It will be a huge party, one of the biggest she has ever thrown – and she’s thrown a few.”
The duo first met back in September 2007, when mutual friend Sadie Frost introduced the pair backstage at one of The Kills’ gigs.
A love affair shortly blossomed, but it wasn’t without drama. Two years ago, the couple split for three days after Moss threw Hince out and he was caught on camera dragging suitcases along the pavement.
Moss, who’s led a turbulent life of her own, has many famous exes in her kitty, including movie star Johnny Depp and rocker Pete Doherty.
She also had a brief fling with comedian Russell Brand, before he found Katy Perry.
