So who do you want to see playing a 17 year old? Shah Rukh Khan or Ranbir Kapoor?
Well both of them will be seen in their forthcoming films as 17-year-olds.
While current heartthrob Ranbir plays a teen who is in search of his father in the Anurag Basu-directed ‘Jagga Jasoos’, SRK will be seen playing a 17-year-old in one of his forthcoming films.
We are not sure about which film he was talking about but SRK did mention that he was playing a teen. “I am playing 17-year-old in my next film and I will take some help to do it,” said the actor recently.
SRK says that he will be using the help of make-up and VFX for the same.
The only difference between Ranbir and SRK will be that Ranbir will be 32 when ‘Jagga Jasoos’ releases and SRK will be 50 when his film hits the marquee.
Incidentally Katrina Kaif will also be playing a character with a similar age.
It is not that others haven’t played a character much younger than themselves.
Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor who were paired opposite each other in the Pankaj Kapoor directed film ‘Mausam’ played three different age groups in their film. Shahid was 30 and Sonam was 26 then when the film released in 2011. The audience did not appreciate the seasonal update.
As for Sonam Kapoor, she did an encore in ‘Raanjhana’ when she played a 16-17-year-old with Dhanush also doing the honours playing a boy of a similar age. The audience loved the love story then.
The godfather of Indian cinema – Amitabh Bachchan too has classically played a 13-year-old character in his film ‘Paa’ when he played Auro in the film directed by R Balki.
The film had Vidya Balan play his mother and his real life son Abhishek Bachchan play his father in the film.
When it comes to Amitabh, you know that the child is the father of the man. Amitabh was 66 then. And now to see if SRK at 50 can outdo the rest of the actors in Bollywood.
