Former soccer star Gary Lineker divorces model wife Danielle

Former soccer star Gary Lineker and Indian origin model Danielle Bux are set to divorce.

The pair - who married in Italy in 2009 - have quietly ended their marriage and insist the split was amicable.

A spokesperson told MailOnline on Tuesday (12.01.16): "Gary and Danielle have decided to end their marriage and their divorce was confirmed today with the judge granting a Decree Nisi.

"They remain the greatest of friends and wish each other every happiness."

The Sun newspaper reports that the couple's split was partly caused by 36-year-old model Danielle's desire to have more children.

She has one daughter from a previous relationship while former soccer star Gary, 55, has four grown-up sons from a former marriage and is said to not want to have any more kids.

However, the split is believed to be "friendly" with a source telling the newspaper: "Usually these things are very sad and often acrimonious but with Gary and Danielle it is very much friendly with no legal battle that can cost a lot of money.

They didn't use any solicitors and filed for divorce using a government website where they filled out the forms together. It cost about £400, rather tens of thousands in legal bills.

"They made a great couple but their different views on having children is what made them realise had to split.

"They both know it is the right thing to do and are looking forward to the future. They are convinced they will stay friends."
