Back in 1982, Princess Diana fooled the press by announcing the heir to the throne was due on July 1. But Prince William was actually born ten days earlier on June 21.

If Kate and William have decided to follow his mother's lead, the true expected due date of their first child will be July 3.

The royal baby isn't expected to arrive for another three weeks according to the officially announced due date.

The Daily Telegraph reported that 'the Duchess may be due earlier than the July 13 date announced by Buckingham Palace but have kept the true date a secret, much like Princess Diana.'

With the intense press speculation and public interest surrounding the birth, the couple couldn't be blamed for maintaining a shred of privacy by misleading people on the official due date.

Of course, the due date is only ever an estimation of when a baby will arrive. The Duchess will not be having caesarian, nobody will be able to predict when her labour will begin naturally.

Kate worried William may miss birth

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge is said to be anxious her husband Prince William may be away with the RAF when their baby arrives.

The 31-year-old royal is rumoured to be terrified her husband William may be away working as an RAF search and rescue pilot in Anglesey, North Wales, when their first child arrives in July.

Despite planning to spend most of his time at Nottingham Cottage, the couple's home in the grounds of London's Kensington Palace, William's job is unpredictable and the humble heir has previously insisted he would never ask for special treatment from the RAF.

A source told now magazine: "Kate's worried he might not be around. She's feeling self-conscious because it's uncharted territory for both of them.

"It's an exciting and nervous time, but she knows that he'll do everything in his power not to let her down."

However, William has reportedly asked if a helicopter can be on standby to whisk him back to London if the baby were to come while he's working in Anglesey, North Wales.

The 31-year-old royal is expected to be given a few weeks paternity leave once their child - who will be third in line to the throne - is born, but the time off will need to be approved by the UK Ministry of Defence.

An official from St. James Palace recently confirmed: "It is likely that he will have a couple of weeks leave."
