Oscars 2016: The Ultimate party guide

Rather than boycotting the Oscars for a lack of acknowledgment, many African-American film organizations and individuals - from the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African-Americans, to Oprah Winfrey and Kevin Hart - are joining awards week receptions, and initiating the celebrating themselves.

"This year's nominations have become another sharp reminder that Hollywood is still not as diverse as we know that it can be," says Essence editor-in-arity bief Vanessa De Luca, whose annual Black Women in Hollywood lunch will now be televised as an OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network primetime special. "Our guests look to the luncheon as a special space where they feel recognized and valued."
