Priyanka Chopra is now ready to take on roles that actresses would love to do in a male-dominated movie industry.

Fact of the matter being her latest catch – Zoya Akhtar’s film ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’.

The film like all other Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti films such as ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd’ and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ is bit of a road film.

After films like ‘Zanjeer’ and the recent ‘Gunday’ where we saw Priyanka gyrating to typical dance numbers from Bollywood, and she did not have much to showcase in the film, this will be a refreshing change.

We all know how the actress managed to steal a lot of hearts with her powerful performance in films like ‘Fashion’, ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’ and ‘Barfi!’, but roles like that comes once in a lifetime.

‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ lets the actress take a bit of a challenge.

She will play a woman who has gone through a bad marriage and is divorced. How she takes life after that and fights it out forms the crux of her story.

“The basic challenge as an actress that Priyanka is going to face will be on how she manages to look older than Ranveer, after playing a girl younger than him in ‘Gunday’. It is not mentally easy for an actress to think that she will play an older woman to men who are heroes. People like Waheeda Rehman managed that so easily in the olden days, but girls today do not want to be perceived as older,” says a source close to the unit.

The film is also a story of a slightly older woman and her sibling. The role was offered to Kareena Kapoor and her real life cousin Ranbir Kapoor earlier, but Kareena backtracked once Ranbir couldn’t manage his dates.

The film is about a family with multiple issues, that get out in the open when they embark on a voyage together.
