Ranbir Kapoor is ready to fight it out with Shah Rukh Khan
Ranbir Kapoor sweeped all the awards for the best actor category in 2012 for ‘Rockstar’. With the start of this year’s award season Ranbir opened well.
He bagged the jury award for the Best Actor at the Zee Cine Awards for ‘Barfi!’
'Paan Singh Tomar' and 'Barfi!' shared the best film title, and its lead actors - Irrfan and Ranbir Kapoor respectively, lifting the best actor's trophy at the 19th Annual Colors Screen Awards night.
And he celebrated the same by performing for the first time on stage with mother Neetu Singh. But Ranbir chooses to dedicate his performance to 100 years of Indian cinema.
“Since Hindi cinema is celebrating 100 years, we came up with an idea to do some songs for my family. So we tried and con my mother to do a nice jig with me on stage on songs like ‘Parda Hai Parda’ and ‘Ek Main Aur Ek Tu’,” says Ranbir. These songs are dance numbers featuring Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor and his mother Neetu Singh performed on the silver screen many moons ago.
Ranbir has already performed with his father Rishi Kapoor at the IIFA Awards last year and Ranbir wants to share the stage with virtually share the stage with all the members of his Kapoor family including his star cousin Kareena Kapoor.
“I wanted to do with her this time but she was travelling so she couldn’t,” he rues.
The 19th Colors Screen Awards will be screened on January 19 and will be hosted by Shah Rukh Khan . Incidentally, SRK is Ranbir’s biggest competitor.
“With Screen, I will have four screen awards. I have heard Shah Rukh sir has the maximum best actor awards. He is a great inspiration,” admits RK Jr.
