Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his charity organisation 'Being Human' decided to encourage Mumbai Marathon runners.
In the wee hours, the actor and the volunteers stationed themselves at a point offering water, biscuits and sweets to the runners as they passed through Worli towards the finish line.
Away from the spotlight and the television cameras the Being Human team did their bit of service to the runners.
Dressed in sporty casuals, the actor was accompanied by just a handful of his closest friends who braved the early morning chill.
Most of the runners who gratefully grabbed the refreshments recognised him and were taken by surprise. Soon word spread that the star was waiting patiently greeting runners under a lamp post, seemingly unguarded.
As the crowd started gathering Salman had to make his exit. He was there at the spot well before daybreak and had spent nearly three hours serving the Marathoners with bottles of water and biscuits.
Salman Khan and the members of his crew may not have participated in Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, but they helped marathon runners with essentials.
Salman Khan may have looked dressed down in the pictures, but he has managed to wow his fans who appreciated his efforts to serve without the cameras focused on him. Much after he left the spot the Being Human volunteers continued serving the runners passing through that patch.
Several actors, businessmen, doctors and environmentalists, sportspersons including many foreigners and others joined over 40,000 enthusiastic Indian citizens at the 10th Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, braving the Sunday morning chills.
The runners are highlighting various causes ranging from female foeticide to saving tigers to good health through the marathon and are sprinting in various categories for different lengths.
