Shilpa Shetty honours nine women achievers of Dubai
It was a strange coincidence that linked Bollywood beauty and IPL's Rajasthan Royal cricket team owner Shilpa Shetty with a jewellery line that boasts of its illustrious connection with Rajasthan royalty.
"I also believe that I must have belonged to some kind of royalty in my past life. But, yes, it is just a connect that happened out of the blue," she told Emirates24|7.
Wearing a Ramona figure-hugging gown, and a stunning antique jewellery set dating back 150 years, Shetty confessed that she felt like royalty.
"I love jewellery, and that’s my connect. It also stems from the fact that I'm a Shetty, and we South Indians love our jewellery. And, I've always had an affinity for antique jewellery."
The actress was in Dubai on Monday to launch the Gehna jewellery boutique at the Gold and Diamond Park.
Unveiling the Navratna collection, Shetty felicitated nine of Dubai’s women achievers.
"I'm here to felicitate nine really special women, who are stars and who shine like the Gehna pieces in their own right in this world, which is why, it is also synonymous with this Navratna choker I've selected today."
Entreprenuer and maverick behind boutique Studio 8 Sarah Belhasa, celebrated fashion designer Ayesha Depala, leading dermatologist Dr Minal Patwardhan, Head of Human Resources Unilever, Middle East and Africa Shelly Kawatra, Head of Marketing division RAK Bank Banali Malhotra, Director of DM Healthcare Alisha Moopen, Entreprenuer and owner of label L'edit Pop-up stores Faiza Rangoonwala, social activist heading the charity 'Adopt-a Camp' Seher Shaikh, and director of Club Apparel Sima Ved were celebrated for their unique contributions.
