Dubai’s Bollywood fans have never had it so good as this New Year’s Eve weekend, what with some of the industry’s heaviest hitters being spotted all over town.

“Dabangg” star Salman Khan celebrated his 45th birthday at DIFC hotspot Caramel last Monday, with a menu that included signature dishes such as the miso-glazed black cod, yellowtail sashimi and kobe beef carpacccio.

Word on the grapevine is that ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif dropped in to spend time with the beefy actor – and the pair partied away until the early hours. Kaif has since denied this.

A couple of days later, Khan was spotted at the airport on his own, heading back to Mumbai for a few hours’ recording “Bigg Boss”, before jetting back into the shiny emirate to bring in the new year.

Also seeing out 2010 here in Dubai was Shah Rukh Khan, for whose Palm Jumeirah party had half of Bollywood flying in, including Zayed Khan, Chunkey Panday, Sonakshi Sinha, Karan Johar and veteran designer Anna Singh – who, the shopaholic that she is, couldn’t wait to hit the shops, a little birdie tells us.

While Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh’s wife, and their children, Aryan and Suhana, flew in on Monday, Khan himself only made it early on Thursday. Despite having booked three separate first class tickets for Wednesday, he was forced to book a fourth flight after filming for his new reality show, “Zor Ka Jhatka”, the Indian version of “Wipeout”, was delayed well into a second shift. One fan at the airport told us he looked like he desperately need to get some sleep.

And while the box-office superstar has been lying low, Hrithik Roshan and his wife Suzanne were spotted watching the fireworks display at the Burj Khalifa from the poolside of The Palace hotel on New Year’s Eve. “I didn’t know who this man mincing about the pool was,” one expatriate onlooker told Emirates247.com, “until one of my friends told me it was Hrithik Roshan.

“He did a long walk around the pool waiting to be noticed and then posed for photographs,” our source said.

Word is Roshan and his wife have been staying at the hotel’s imperial suite, which we’re told offers its guests a view of the Dubai Fountain for a staggering Dh25,000 a night. The Roshans have apparently been booked in for two weeks.

Roshan has already been to Ski Dubai, where he’s been teaching his sons, Hridaan and Hrehaan, how to make it downhill without breaking any bones.

Also hanging out at the Burj Khalifa are tower residents Shilpa Shetty and husband Raj Kundra, who, after bringing in the new year, are planning an anniversary party in Dubai.
Whether either – or both – of the Khans attend remains to be seen.

For the question on every fan's mind at the moment is, with both Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan in Dubai at the same time, have they kissed and made up yet? Certainly, there hasn't been a shortage of opportunities.
