TV series 'Mahabharat' crew member dies at success party

The mythological Indian TV drama 'Mahabharat' which premiered on September 16, 2013 wrapped up the last episode last Saturday (Aug 16) and to celebrate its success the producers threw a party for the entire cast and crew.

It was supposed to be a night of celebration but tragedy struck them when one member of the team collapsed and died at the venue.

Ved Puri, the post-production manager collapsed on the dance floor at around 1.30 am after complaining of uneasiness in his chest.

Ved Puri, more popularly known as Yash Puri, the nephew of actor Om Puri was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital.

He was pronounced dead by doctors on admission.

The incident came as a huge shock to the entire team of Swastik Productions, which produced 'Mahabharat'.

The cast and crew watched the last episode together, which was followed by memento distribution ceremony and cake cutting.

Puri was honoured with a personalized trophy from the producers in recognition for his work on the costume drama.

Apart from handling the post production, Puri also handled the VFX of Mahabharat and also gave his inputs in the writing of the show.

Puri is survived by his wife and two children.
