Janet Jackson Live

Concert season starts off with a bang this weekend with the iconic Janet Jackson grooving tonight to her biggest hits at Yas Arena, Yas Island, courtesy of Flash Entertainment.

Tonight's show will see the five-time Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Jackson in a unique performance, where the diva is said she would only perform music exclusively from her chart-topping CD number ones.

King of Pop Michael Jackson’s sister has chosen Abu Dhabi as one of the 35 international cities she will perform at during her “Number Ones, Up Close and Personal Tour”.

Talking about her upcoming tour earlier, Jackson had said: “These concerts will be different from anything I have ever done.  I will be as up close and personal as possible, she said.

“These concerts are not about special effects. This is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years. I’ll be singing and dancing from my heart. The music will all be songs that you've made number one for me.”

The 45-year-old released her “Number Ones” album, her second greatest hits compilation, in 2009.

The double-disc album featured her 35 number one hit singles, spanning various music charts and includes Jackson’s new single, “Make Me,” which became her 35th number one single and 19th number one hit on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart.

Tickets for the Jackson show go on sale today, with tickets priced at Dh265 for general admission; Dh365 for the grandstand; Dh665 for the fan pit.

Abu Dhabi Film Festival

Over 200 films over 10-days means this year's Abu Dhabi Film Festival will create a buzz like never before.

With top notch films from around 43 countries, this year's ADFF will also see top celebs turning to the capital.

Leading the way on the red carpet will be Evan Rachel Wood, the stunner who stars in the George Clooney-directed political thriller, “The Ides of March”.

Also attending is Topher Grace, better known as the goofy teen on “That 70’s Show” or of course, as the baddie Venom, in “Spider-man 3”. The actor will be walking the red carpet on the world premiere of his film, “The Double”, which has been co-produced by the UAE and also sees him star with Richard Gere.

British model and actress Lily Cole will lend her name to the glamour quotient, attending the screening of her horror-film, “The Moth Diaries”.

Rumour has it that Frieda Pinto, who isn’t a novice to ADFF, may also make a sneaky visit for the screening of her film “Trishna” on October 20, which is an adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s “Tess of the d’Urbervilles”; however, the film’s British director, Michael Winterbottom, will certainly attend the premiere.

To catch all the action, head to the opening night tonight at Fairmont Bab Al Bahar.

Movies are also being shown at the Marina Mall and the Abu Dhabi Theatre. ADFF concludes on October 23.

Friday, October 14

Listen up boys, here's your chance to meet the stunning Kim Kardashian, up close and personal with her mother, Kris Jenner, will be at The Dubai Mall on Friday to launch the first outlet of Millions of Milkshakes.

The duo will create their own signature shakes; following which, a live interview by MBC will be conducted and fans have been requested to put forth their questions on the Facebook page of the retail outlet.

The 30-year-old is expected to be there around 9pm. Get there early we say, to avoid disappointment.
