Amidst all the Twitter madness over Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscars selfie, the back story that is emerging, is of the two smartphone giants at war even on the movie industry’s biggest night.

The internet is abuzz with the smart-phone spotters reporting that Samsung’s Galaxy S5 was the real star of Ellen’s selfie drama.

The Oscars host used the recently-launched S5 to take the selfie and in what is being seen as a huge publicity coup for Samsung, Ellen’s S5-generated selfie went perfectly well with a 30-second advertising segment.

The Samsung Note 3 reportedly also got some Oscar play.

However, Apple fans have been hitting back with reports that Ellen’s ‘real’ phone is an iPhone.

Tweets and internet reports have claimed that when DeGeneres was back stage, she switched to an iPhone.

So while the S5 has created the most retweeted picture in history, its creator uses an iPhone.
