Whitney Houston fans fume: Biopic is only intimacy and drugs

Fans are not too impressed with some aspects of the Whitney Houston's biopic, with hundreds taking to Twitter to criticise the movie's graphic sex scenes and portrayal of excessive drug use.

Whitney, who passed away in February 2012 aged just 48, is seen taking cocaine and engaging in explicit sexual acts.

This has disappointed fans who believe her talent should have been the main focus of the film.

The biopic is directed by Angela Bassett and aired on Lifetime last Saturday.

The plot focuses on a five-year period of the 'I Will Always Love You' hit-maker's life and the tumultuous love story between her and Bobby Brown, including their steamy courtship, marriage and the birth of their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown.

Many felt frustrated that the film was too Bobby-centric, portraying the R&B star as a victim, lured into a drug-fuelled party lifestyle by Whitney.

While Whitney takes class-A drugs, the Bobby is seen clutching his beer and declaring, 'I'll stick with this.'

Fans have taken to Twitter to vent their anger.

'This @lifetimetv movie doesn't do Whitney Houston's legacy any justice, so far it's only sex & Cocaine #Whitney #WhitneyHoustonMovie', one fan wrote on the social media site.

Another shocked viewer posted: 'Did Lifetime get clearance for these sex scenes?!?!? My goodness.... #whitney #liteporn — watching Whitney Houston (sic)'.

@RoxzySoFoxy wrote: "Watching the Whitney Houston movie..at 11:21 there was a sex scene..at 11:29 there was another..I didn't know lifetime got this raunchy."

The three extended sex scenes between actress Yaya DaCosta and on-screen love interest Arlen Escarpeta left little to the imagination, with many younger users switching off and complaining the biopic wasn't family friendly.
