The big day is here! Dubai World Cup is as much an event for horse lovers and racing enthusiasts as much it is for fashionistas.

Over the years this race day has grown to become a world class event that is comfortably perched at the pinnacle of the racing world.

The Meydan Grandstand has a capacity of 600,000 spectators overlooking the Apron View which hosts the Jaguar Style Stakes.

If the action on the race track is fast and furious, the glitz and glamour is an attack no our fashion senses.

Sophistication, poise and elegance are key words to consider when it comes to dressing for the race.

And it's not just the eyeballs that you grab - those who put in an effort are rewarded handsomely. A Jaguar F-Type, a Longines watch, cash prices, pamper packages, hotel stay for just dressing up the right way.

The judges had a tough day picking up the best from hundreds participating in 6 categories and here are the winners.

Competition

All these years in the UAE and she never attended the Dubai World Cup and finally when she did, she conquered.

The 'Best Dresssed Lady' Shaleen Cheah is from Malaysian and a resident of Dubai for the past seven years.

She is a designer by profession and picked up one of her own creation for the Jaguar Style Stakes.

Cheah says, "This win is a pleasant surprise and 'am glad I finally made it to the event after so many years." Her advice to participants is to "stay true to yourself"!

Latoyah Asha could not have picked a better time to visit Dubai.

Seven days in Dubai and this lucky Aussie bags 'Best Dressed Lady' - Runner up prize. "I am just overwhelmed by everything here in Dubai," says Asha.

Dubai resident Abir Bennani from Tunisia wins the 'Most Elegant Lady' award.

Wearing a Ted Baker floral print item, Bennani says she didn't put in much effort to dress up but she is more than happy to take home a watch from Longines new collection.

'Best Dressed Couple' Romain Zouhri from France and Charlotte Taylor from England made a beautiful pair with thier colour coordinated costume.

The Dubai residents displayed some swag on stage and looked comfortable amidst tough competition.

Nadeer Tearab was a cool customer even when he faltered on stage while showing his moves. This Sudanese gentleman carrying a duffle bag, packed away the 'Best Dressed Man' Award.

Korozana Celaj from Germany wins the "Most Creative Hat' at the Juguar Style Stakes. Designed by her mother, Celag feels 'extremely proud' to have won the award.

Ana Pribylova from Australia wins the 'Best Hat Award' at the Juguar Style Stakes.

This is her second win at the races. Last year she was judged the 'Most Elegant Lady'. "I feel really happy. I cannot believe they have picked me up among so many beautiful ladies here today," says Pribylova.

There were more than 40 participants contesting in the Jaguar Style Stakes 'Best Hat' category.

And the judges had a tough day on the field.

The judging panel consisted of expert from fashion industry like Alanoud Badr, founder and designer of Lady Fozaza and was joined by Melbourne based milliner Kim Fletcher.

Also in the judging panel is Kate Hazell who is a British fashion director, journalist, stylist and writer.

Salman Sultan from Jaguar Land Rover Mena team also joins the judging group.

Before the storm

Here we spot Ana Pribylova from Australia who bagged the 'Most Elegant Lady Award' last year!

"Am very excited to be back in Dubai. This horse race is like no other in the world, I have travelled everywhere but none is this exciting, says Ana Pribylova. I am looking forward to an afternoon full of fun. And I hope I win something today. She is a participant of Jaguar style stakes.

"I was not sure whether I wanted to participate for the best dressed category, my friends forced me to and here I am. The atmosphere is electrifying and I am all charged up," says a Dubai resident.

If competition is fierce in the nine races for a collective purse of $30 million (Dh110 million), including a staggering $10 million (Dh36.7m) for the last race, then the cash price and pamper packages for those who conquer the fashion stakes are equally coveted.
