The garment was allegedly left on a private plane when the Queen visited Chile in 1968 (TMZ.COM)
One will not be amused.
Days after news broke that briefs that had kept Napoleon warm during his years in exile are on sale, undergarments purportedly belonging to Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II are now being auctioned off by a man in Florida, sparking a trend for selling celebrity knickers.
Globetrotting Miami bon vivant "Baron" Joseph de Bicske Dobronyi – or Sepy, as he was known – reportedly snagged the royal bloomers off a friend after they were left on a private plane when the Queen visited Chile in 1968, celebrity website TMZ.com reported. They were part of a vast collection of exotic and intimate objects found at his mansion, including a range of artwork, animal skin rugs, travel souvenirs, luxury cars, a collection of hotel room keys and yes, women’s undergarments.
Following Dobronyi’s death in June, his estate has decided to auction off this piece of royal memorabilia, and is apparently offering them to Hanson's Auctioneers, which put Queen Victoria’s drawers on the block in 2008, raising $9,000.
The current queen’s smalls – if they are proved to be genuine – should go for considerably more than that.
