You must have heard/read or been lectured numerous times how breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Skipping it means having an adverse effect on your weight.

Breakfast provides the body and brain with fuel after an overnight fast - that's where its name originates, breaking the fast.

But there is a right way to eat your breakfast - we tell you how.

1. Doughnuts and Pastries:

It tastes great with a cup of coffee, but doughnuts, muffins and pastries are better as a special treat rather than a breakfast.

They are full of sugar, calories, and fat, which can hardly sustain you until lunchtime. Eating a breakfast high in sugar can cause a rise in blood sugar eventually leading to obesity and diabetes.

2. Caffeine:

Morning without coffee or tea seems incomplete, right? A cup of coffee or tea could help boost your mood and metabolism, but avoid drowning yourself with cups of coffee. This can cause sleep deprivation and coffee add-ons can reflect on your body in a bad way.

3. Sugary Cereals

Sugary cereals are full of sugar and has little vital nutrients. Although they taste great, it’s not a good start to the day.

They are often full of processed ingredients, empty calories, and lead to nothing more than an energy crash mid-morning.

4. Juice:

Juice is good but whole fruits are better. Juicing your fruit in a blender causes the fruit to lose most of its vitamins, minerals and fiber.

Ready-to-drink juices that you store for months in your refrigerator are far from healthy. You are not getting the fresh nutrients of the fruits. Instead you get sheer sugar syrup and loads of toxic preservatives.

Instead, replace your juice with a glass of water and a whole fruit. It will save you some extra calories.

5. Instant Noodles:

All of us are hungry in the morning. To fill your growling belly, you may be tempted to eat quick breakfast foods like instant noodles. It is filled with empty calories and too much sodium so avoid this unhealthy breakfast choice.

Few Tips:

#Eating whatever you want cannot help you escape from those extra calories.

#Have a glass of lukewarm water, first thing in the morning. It helps to keep you hydrated, aids digestion, cures gastric ailments and gives you a feeling of fullness.

#Try and eat a healthy breakfast like green tea with a lemon wedge, oats with half a banana/ an egg preparation with an orange and whole wheat toast.

#Eat a fist full of nuts, a bowl of cereal and a whole fruit.
