Dubai's Dh100,000 Valentine's Day splurge

Goodbye global recession and hello discretionary income as February 14 brings forth a Valentine's Day package for Dubai residents that comes with a price tag of just Dh100,000.

Even as an 'Emirates24|7' poll tells us that denizens are particularly penny pinching this year on this day of romance, the good folks at the Bliss Bar and Lounge at Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort have pulled out a whopper from their hat, telling us to stop counting fils and splurge on the one we love.

So what do you get for this Dh100,000 deal, you ask?

Speaking to us, Bliss Manager, Janis Astahous says: “It’s an exclusive one-night stay package at the Sheraton’s royal suite, which begins with a limousine pick-up, followed by a 25-minute helicopter ride over Dubai.”

As the day of romance continues, the couple will be then escorted for a three-course dinner on the beach, under the stars, with free flowing French bubbly.

“Finally, a one-karat diamond ring of D Clarity and VS Colour will be presented to the couple, followed by breakfast the next day,” he adds.

Astahous states that the package itself was launched on February 12 and would run until the end of the month to allow people to celebrate this entire month as one of romance.

However, quiz him if a package has been whisked up as yet by a dewy-eyed lover, and he denies such has been the case.

“We have had a lot of enquires so far, but no takers as yet,” he says. “But we are quite confident that those who have Dh100,000 in the bank would gladly splurge on their loved one. It is not always about buying a car on an expensive trinket, but the experience itself also matters.

“If I did, I know I would have done the same.”

So, can Dh100K also buy us a late check out?

Astahous laughs and says: “I am sure that can be arranged.”
