A Milan-bound Air India flight has made a 'precautionary landing' in Delhi shortly after take-off after smoke was detected in the cabin.
Flight AI 137, which was headed to the Italian city, had to return to the Indian capital after cabin smoke was reported.
The airline has stated that passengers are safe and being transferred to another aircraft.
In a statement, Air India stated: "Delhi-Milan flight AI 137 made a safe precautionary landing at Delhi Airport today due to minor smoke detected in the cabin.
"Pax are being transferred to another aircraft, expected to leave shortly [sic]."
The incident occured as New Delhi, along with several airports across India are on high alert, follow threats as the country celebrates its 67th Republic Day.
