Ajman population crosses the 262,000 mark
Ajman’s population increased by nearly 12,000 to exceed 262,000 at the end of 2010 and nearly 16 per cent of them are Emirates, official figures showed.
The emirate, the fifth largest in the UAE, also had 3,059 industrial units at the end of 2010, with investment of around Dhthree billion, providing over 46,000 jobs, the government’s annual statistics book showed.
“At the end of 2010, Ajman’s total population stood at 262.186, including 42,186 nationals,” said the report, published by the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej.
The report showed that Emiratis account for nearly 16 per cent of the Emirate’s total population, a level which is consistent with the ratio of Emiratis in the UAE.
At that number, Ajman’s population constituted around 3.2 per cent of the country’s total population of nearly eight million.
