A Bangladeshi national has reportedly given birth to a baby on board an Air Arabia flight from Lebanon, bound for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka.

The pregnant passenger, who was reportedly returning home after visiting her husband in Lebanon, experienced contractions mid-air and was assisted by cabin crew and passengers on board for the delivery.

Even as a response from the Sharjah-based Air Arabia is awaited, Bangla News has named the mother as Yesmin Akhter, 35, stating her baby was due mid-February but she went into labour one-and-a-half hours be4fore the aircraft’s scheduled landing.

Air Arabia officials at the Dhaka airport reportedly took the duo to a hospital upon landing.

Both, the mother and her new-born are reportedly safe.

The news quoted Air Arabia manager Harunur Rashid as saying their flight’s cabin crew, who performed the delivery, are trained to face such situations.
