Chocolate box stolen at Saudi parliament

Box was later found in worker’s bag

Small sums of money and a basket of chocolate have been stolen at the Saudi Shura council (appointed parliament), a newspaper reported on Monday.

A basket of chocolate brought by a foreign parliament speaker as a present to Shura members disappeared, before it was found in the bag of a cleaner at the council, the Saudi Arabic language daily ‘Alhayat’ said.

“There have been a string of thefts at the Shura council this year, including small sums of money and a basket of chocolates brought by a foreign parliament speaker as a present to Shura members,” the paper said, citing Shura sources.

“After a search, security men found the basket in the bag of a cleaner, who stole it from the drawer where it was kept as a present.”
