Kuwaiti police arrested 25 nationals and eight Westerners during a raid on a luxury apartment used for gambling and newspapers said it was one of the biggest gambling dens busted in the oil-rich Gulf emirate.
Police stormed the beach apartment in Salimiya neighborhood after a Kuwaiti reported that his friend had lost a large sum of money in the gambling that included roulette, card games and other modern Western gambling methods.
Newspapers did not identify all the foreigners but said one of them is American, who told police that they had been brought in by the apartment’s Kuwaiti owner to manage the gambling games in exchange for a large monthly salary.
“Before raiding the flat, police sent an undercover with the man who reported his friend’s loss…he managed to film gambling by his mobile phone and handed it to the police,” the Arab language daily Al Anba said.
