Countdown begins: Final stage of Dubai tram testing on

For the first time Dubai Tram will enter the communities Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and Dubai Marina this week.

Today, (June 14), the final testing phase of Dubai tram commenced, in which the tram is tested on the tracks at the furthest end from its depot.

Passing by some of the emirate’s most popular communities, the tram will make a loop to serve four both JLT and JBR, after which it rolls back to Dubai Marina Metro station.

From there, it crosses the road to ride along Al Sufouh Road.

Four stations will be served in the area described above, and Dubai Tram will connect to two Metro stations, being JLT station and Dubai Marina station.

It is this area where Dubai Tram will be most popular, expects the Road and Transport Authority (RTA).

For now, the appearance of the tram indicates the last stage of the trial run, which was preceded by test rides in Dubai Knowledge Village, Media City and Sufouh area.

The first test ride outside the depot kicked off on January 26, while the second round commenced on April 16.

The tram is expected to be operational in November this year, although no exact date has been given so far.
