Drugs, alcohol killed 5 on Dubai's roads in Jan-June

Driving under the influence of drugs and liquor caused 151 road accidents that killed five people in Dubai in the first half of 2013, police data showed on Sunday.

The accidents also resulted in the injury of 42 and the damage of 258 vehicles, according to statistics published in ‘Al Ittihad’ daily.
Drunk driving alone resulted in 142 mishaps in which four people were killed and 142 injured.

Driving under the influence of drugs caused nine accidents that killed one man and injured seven others, the data showed.

In the first half of last year, drunk driving resulted in 150 traffic accidents that killed three people in the emirate.
