A parcel containing drugs was sent via post from Jordan, leading to the arrest of seven Jordanians, including a woman, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On November 4, a post company suspected a parcel sent form Jordan to Dubai contained drugs.

Searching the parcel, the police found two pieces of hashish, 782grams in weight in total.

In coordination with the post company, an Anti-Narcotics officer was assigned to act as an employee.

AF, 31, a Dubai resident approached the office in Al Garhoud and collected the parcel on behalf of the person whose name was mentioned on the recipient.

AF submitted the ID of the recipient AM, 27, a butcher and resident of Abu Dhabi.

As he was leaving, police arrested AF who received a phone call from AM.

Police asked AF to put the call on speaker. AM was then called in to collect the parcel.

AM came along with a woman IQ, 26, sales executive who was in an abnormal condition and both were arrested.

Police also arrested another butcher, AS, whose mobile number was mentioned on the parcel.

Searching the villa of AM, police arrested AS, in addition to KJ, 27, sales executive and FH, 30, a communications technician.

Police confiscated 135 captagon tablets, 10 pieces of hashish and wraps of tobacco mixed with marijuana.

The court will reconvene on March 13.
