Dubai-bound flight in emergency landing

An Egypt Air plane suffered from a technical fault while on flight from the Mediterranean port of Alexandria to Dubai on Wednesday, triggering panic among its 200 passengers before making an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.

The aircraft had taken off from Alexandria airport in the morning and was en route for Dubai when the fault occurred, forcing the pilot to change route for emergency landing in the central Saudi province of Al Qaseem.

The Dubai-based Emirat Alyoum daily said the fault last for nearly half an hour before the captain decided to head for Al Qaseem airport.

“The problem caused panic among the passengers but it landed safely in Al Qaseem…the passengers were later flow by another Egypt Air jet to Dubai,” it said, quoting passengers on board the stricken flight 903.
