Dubai women are far safer drivers than men

Women were behind 10.3 per cent of the total road accidents in Dubai during the first nine months of this year, which led to the death of 8 persons and injuries to 170.

Accidents caused by women has fallen from 132 or 9.33 per cent during the first nine  months of 2009 to 103.

Statistics of the Dubai Traffic Police confirmed that among the 999 traffic accidents during the first nine months of this year, women were behind 103 accidents and 888 accidents were committed by male drivers. The remaining eight accidents were committed by unknown drivers.

Accidents involving women drivers led to the death of 8 persons, and minor injury to 121. Some 34 people suffered medium injuries and 15 serious ones.

Male drivers were behind 88.89 per cent of all accidents which led to the death of 115 persons, and injuries to 1,266.

Unknown drivers were behind 8 accidents, in which on eperson died and 7 were injured.
 
Statistics of the General Command of Dubai Police indicate there is a decline in the total number of accidents from 1,415 accidents in the first nine months of 2009 to 999.

The Dubai Traffic police  recently launched a campaign that aims at zero accident per 100,000 population by 2020.
