Dubai Municipality has urged the public to refrain from slaughtering stock at any other place than the designated slaughterhouses during the Eid celebrations.
Temporary abattoirs have been set up in Al Quoz 1 - residential area and Khawaneej – Wadi Al Amardi, in addition to the main slaughterhouses in Al Qusais, Hatta and Lisayli in order to provide the best services to customers, said Ali Al Hammadi, head of the Abattoir Section at Dubai Municipality.
The public should refrain from street butchery in order to preserve health, safety and environmental safety of society.
He explained that the slaughterhouses will start its work in the first day of Eid Al Adha after Eid prayers, continuing until 4pm.
On the second and third day of Eid working times will be from 6.30am until 4pm. After this working hours the gates will be closed.
The fees are:
Goats and sheep: Dh15
Cows: Dh30-55
Camel: Dh60-65
Mincing the meat will not be available because of the high volume of customers during Eid.
Hammadi pointed out that the number of veterinarians during Eid Al Adha has been increased to 27, while 47 butchers and 60 environmental and public health workers have been deployed to meet the needs of the masses in this occasion.
He added that all abattoirs have been prepared and are ready for the celebrations with maintenance of machinery, equipment and devices completed and all the necessary supplies in order to increase production capacity and to facilitate work in the slaughterhouses.
