The Abu Dhabi Police honoured an Italian student for his honesty.

The teenager, who immediately handed the police a wallet he found in Abu Dhabi, received a certificate of appreciation and a token gift.

In his office Sunday, Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ, honoured 16-year-old Andrea Malak Porchetta for his honesty.

Lieutenant Colonel Muzeed Al Otaibi, Chief of the Tourism Police Section, also attended the honoring.

Porchetta, a 10th grade student at Lycée Louis Massignon French School in Abu Dhabi, had found a wallet belonging to a tourist containing cash, identification cards and bank cards in a taxi operating in Abu Dhabi.

Porchetta handed the wallet over to the police, modeling what it means to be a good community member who respects the belongings of others, especially when finding lost belongings.

Colonel Dr. Borshid said: “Abu Dhabi Police honor individuals in recognition of their honesty and positive attitudes when they have taken the initiative to strengthen the spirit of community.

“We are committed to honor individuals who help the police carry out its tasks in a manner that enhances social partnership.”

The student expressed his happiness for being honored and for the hospitality and reception by the Abu Dhabi Police.

He said: “This recognition encourages me to do good deeds that serve the community and contribute to the work of the police institution.

“I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation for this kind gesture that reflects the refined image of the Abu Dhabi Police.”
