18,941 traffic violations reported on the Emirates Road & Dubai Bypass

There has been a significant decline in the number of death due to road accidents in the Emirates Road and Dubai Bypass.

As per reports issued by the Traffic Department of Dubai there has been no deaths reported in January and February in these two roads as opposed to 28 deaths in 2011.

A campaign to control traffic accidents conducted by the General Directorate of Traffic in Dubai on the Emirates Road and Dubai Bypass registered 18941 traffic violations. Of these 18941 violations, 8413 were committed on the Emirates Road and Dubai Bypass Road recorded 10528 accidents.

During the months of January and February in 2012, the number of accidents declined to 21 on Emirates Road and resulted in 33 injuries but no deaths. The number of accidents on Dubai Bypass Road was 7, which resulted in 13 injuries but no deaths here as well.

According to a report issued, the most dangerous offenses recorded by the traffic were due to tire bursts which register 2881 violation. Not buckling of seat belt resulted to 1146 violation. Sudden deviation while driving recorded 129 violations and driving the vehicle contrary to the flow of traffic to 18, pedestrian crossing road not designated for that purpose register 17 violations. Cases registered due to reckless driving caused 15 violations.
