A major accident in Sharjah on Thursday claimed the lives of two Indians and caused severe injuries to four others in the Al Dhaid area.

This follows another accident on Wednesday in which an Egyptian woman died on the spot as her car crashed into a pile-up caused by an underaged driver losing control of his vehicle.

Police have warned against speeding and have deployed more patrols at intersections in view of Ramadan and after a slew of accidents over the past one week.

In Thursday’s accident, a four-wheel drive hit the road divider and rolled over several times, after its driver lost control over the vehicle due to speeding, the police said.

Three of the injured were rushed to the nearby Al Dhaid Hospital and the fourth person to Al Qasimi Hospital.

The police once again called on the motorists to adhere to the traffic rules and abide by the speed limits and be cautious while driving before Iftar.
