Three men in Abu Dhabi are facing charges attempted murder by trying to use sulphuric acid to poison a relative of one of them, a newspaper reported on Sunday.
Police arrested a 34-year-old man, a European and a man from another Gulf country on charges of trying to kill the relative of the Gulf man.
The Arabic language daily 'Al Khaleej' said the victim is a close relative of the Gulf man, who abetted the Arab to use sulphuric acid in the food to try and kill the victim.
“The Arab succeeded in putting poison for the victim, who was rushed to hospital and saved in the last minute,” the paper said.
It said the Arab defendant faced charges of attempted murder in court while the Gulf man was accused of abetting murder.
The European was charged of hiding information as he had learned of the crime.
The paper said trial was adjourned to March 10 for more testimonies but it gave no further information.
