Four school students from the UAE have out-performed thousands of others worldwide.

In the UAE the awards for the June 2011 Cambridge examinations (Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge International AS Level and Cambridge International A Level) are known as the Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Cambridge Outstanding Learner Awards.

GEMS students received a total of 30 ‘Outstanding Learner’ awards which is a third of all award winners in the UAE.  GEMS students topped the UAE in 13 examination subjects.

The four students who topped the world in their examination are: Kristina Prilepchanska of Cambridge International School for IGCSE Drama; Bushra Ali of the Westminster School for AS Level English Language; Dilawar Zainab Zohar of Cambridge International School for AS Level Travel and Tourism and Swetha Sabu Gaesan of Cambridge High School in Abu Dhabi for A Level Business Studies.

The Cambridge International School received the highest number of awards in the UAE with a total of 13 awards.

University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) awards recognise the outstanding academic achievements of secondary school students across the world.
