Through site visits carried out in 2010 to driving institutes, car rental offices and technical testing centers, the department has reported 5,814 offences against these institutions, according to Ahlam Al Feel, Director of Monitoring and Enforcement Department, Licensing Agency, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA).

“In 2010, the geographical coverage of inspection activities has been upped in some sectors to as much as 100 per cent with the aim of maintaining effective coverage of all facilities and installations within the realm of our roles and responsibilities in order to avoid or minimise recurrent offences in future.

"Moreover, we have been keen on launching a host of inspection campaigns, especially during weekends and different events, with the aim of boosting our role in the enforcement of rules and regulations in place,” continued Ahlam Al Feel.

“The Monitoring and Enforcement Department is always keen on ensuring that inspectors do adhere to the best global practices and carry out their duties in a transparent manner consistent with the core values of the department through advocating a course of action comprising directive, counseling and guidance techniques; which has contributed to the enhancement of cooperation with our strategic partners in administering and complying with the law,” said the Director of Monitoring and Enforcement.
