Three vehicles were involved in a collision in Corniche Road in Ajman on the way to Sharjah in which five people sustained medium to severe injuries.
Major Saif Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al Falasi, Head of the Department of Traffic and Patrol Police, Ajman, said the accident happened at 9.30pm on Wednesday.
Al Falasi said a 61-year-old Gulf national had lost control of his speeding vehicle as he tried to avoid people near a pedestrian crossing and hit another vehicle on the side. A third vehicle coming from behind also hit the first two because of lack of enough distance.
Police arrived at the scene of the accident and redirected the traffic flow to avoid congestion. Ambulances also came to take the injured to hospital.
