A 25-year-old Emirati suffering from bad sight in his right eye has been searching for a job for nearly five years, after he was rebuffed by all public and private employers.

Nader Musabbah Al Dahmani, a resident of Ras Al Khaimah, said he graduated with a course for people with special needs in communication and switchboard operation at the Ministry of Interior in 2010 and has been looking for a job ever since.

“I applied for many jobs, but was rejected by all government departments and private establishments because of my eye.

“I am now 25-years old and my father still supports me because it seems there are no plans to employ people with special needs,” he said, quoted by the Arabic language daily ‘Emarat Al Youm’.

“It is not acceptable that I remain reliant on my father.

“I am also considering marrying, but I cannot afford it now. I call on the concerned authorities to exert more efforts to find jobs for the people with special needs to integrate them into the community.”
