A school bus ran over a seven-year-old Arab student after the boy stumbled by the door and slipped down while trying to step out near his school in Abu Dhabi, a newspaper reported on Saturday.
The bus, hired by student parents in Shuweifat school, caused serious injuries to the boy but doctor at Khalifa medical complex in the capital said later his condition was gradually improving and stabilizing.
The semi official daily Alittihad said images showed the boy suffered from chest injury, fractures in his ribs, pulmonary concussion and wounds in the spleen
“His condition is stabilizing as the boy did not suffer from fractures in the limbs, the skull or the spine,” it quoted a doctor as saying.
Man found hanged in his Abu Dhabi flat
A 59-year-old Asian man has committed a suicide by hanging himself by the fan in his apartment in Abu Dhabi, a newspaper said on Saturday.
The man, a partner in a restaurant, was found dead by his brother who reported the incident to the police, Alkhaleej Arabic language daily said.
It quoted a police officer as saying no criminal act was involve in the incident, which took place on Wednesday night.
Two seized with 695 gm of heroin in Sharjah
Sharjah police, acting on a tip off from Dubai anti-drug authorities, arrested two men who smuggled 695 gm of heroin to sell it in the local market.
Police in the emirate managed to locate the whereabouts of the suspects after receiving information from Dubai that the drugs had been smuggled into Sharjah and delivered to a man residing in the city.
A police team raided the suspects’ house and found around 695 gm of heroin in possession of a man, who confessed to receiving the narcotics from abroad.
“He told police that he and his brother had brought the heroin to sell it in the local market…police later arrested his brother,” Emirat Alyoum daily said without identifying the two dealers.
