Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) on Tuesday conducted a graduation ceremony for 70 Emirati trainees and apprentices who had enrolled in the ‘Participate in the Future’ programme last September for training of nationals as a prelude to their employment in various fields like engineering, journalism and administration.

The graduation ceremony, which took place at DMI headquarters, was attended by executives, directors, managers and trainers who oversaw the training of nationals over the past months.

Dhaen Shaheen, general manager of publishing at DMI, said 40 people had graduated in the first batch before the latest batch of 70 people.

He stressed that a bright future for the local media can be assured if more nationals join the profession. Not only their numbers should increase but their capabilities must also improve, he added.

Jassim Al Fahim, Director of Human Resources, said DMI supports support Dubai's strategy to consolidate its position as a platform for the media in the region and also aims to attract UAE nationals to the profession.

Najla Al Balushi, training and development manager at DMI, said the HR department had interviewed male and female candidates during an open day in September. Those selected began their three-month training on October 1, she added.
