Due to rackless driving, making unnecessary noise and breaking other traffic rules eighty vehicles have been confiscated.

These vehicles violated the traffic rules in the span of one week.

According to the Director General of Traffic Police, Maj Gen Mohammed Saif Al Zafeen, ten of the vehicles were confiscated for reckless driving, six for making noises.

Five of the vehicles recorded thick tinting, 58 for expiration of ownership, one for jumping the red light and another for bearing fines worth Dhs154,415.

The one vehicle owner with fines worth Dhs154,415 did not show up or address the issue with the concerned department.

Al Zafeen said, “A driver was found at Al Doha Road raising the siren to make other motorists give him way,” he said. Such behaviour on part of the drive was not acceptable.

Al Zafeen promised, “We shall never allow irresponsible driving. “We are determined to reduce traffic violations in the Emirate of Dubai in the pursuit of reaching zero death per 100,000 populations by 2020.”

The Bur Dubai Police Station carried out all the confiscation.

In August, the police in the capital and the Dubai Police confiscated cars with disfigured number plates.

According to police, those who disfigure the number plates generally have ulterior motives and are trying to evade payment of traffic fines and dodge speed cameras.

Such owners will be subject to legal liabilities and even face felony when caught by the police.
